Overview:

Haneen Banjar received her bachelor's degree in Computer Science with first honors in 2006 from Taibah University, Madinah, Saudi Arabia. She also participated as a trainer in the Computer Club at Taibah University in Madinah (2005). She also won the third place prize in the cultural competition from Taibah University for the year 2005.


She joined  the computer science department at King Abdulaziz University in 2007 as  a teaching assistants.  Her primary role is teaching computer science subjects, but she also participated in Talent and creativity activities as a trainer  for  short courses at the deanship of Students' Affairs in the university 2008.


Then she was sent to Australia in 2008 and received a master's degree in Computer Science with excellent grade in 2011 from La Trobe University in Melbourne, VIC Australia. She also obtained an honorary membership from the International Golden Key Organisation since 2011.


Dr. Banjar received her PhD qualification in bioinformatics from the University of Adelaide and won the alumni award in 2019 from The Australian ambassador (you can read the about it in Sabaq news)(you can see the story in the previous article under the title: Australian Embassy in Riyadh The scholarship students are honored and the ambassador: we are proud of them).  She also was honored in 2018 by His Excellency the Cultural Attaché in Australia ( Honour board 2018 for publishing medical discoveries in the NCBI database.


 Her academic research was titled "Predicting Individual Response to Kinase Inhibitor Therapy in Chronic Myeloid Leukemia: Towards Individualized Medicine". The PhD project was in collaboration with the Health and Medical Research Institute of South Australia (SAHMRI) in Adelaide and awarded the "Best Poster Award" (Judge Choice) Runner-Up, School of Computer Science (2012). She had a number of seminars on her project at the Center for Bioinformatics and Genetics in University of Adelaide since 2011-2013.


She has been assigned as a supervisor of the Quality and Academic Accreditation Unit at FCIT since 2019 and has been honored for contributing to the faculty of computing  and information technology obtaining the University President’s Award for Excellence in University Performance in its second session 2020.


She also received  a certificate of appreciation from the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation for volunteering in the Fursan Program for the year 2020. She also received  many quality certificates, including  EFQM Assessor training and quality specialist (green belt) in leen Sigma.


Her research  focus on artificial intelligence in medicine. Most of her research and projects are in collaboration with  research centres such as:
